Reflection of Green

This morning is beautiful outside, hot, but beautiful in reflection of green, green forest. I'm so ready for Fall. Fall is my favorite time of year and before we moved to the North Georgia mountains, I would take a special week off in October just to come up here for the leaf season beauty. There's nothing like it in these hills and I'm ready for it.

I'm ready for boots and jeans and cool evenings. For cozy nights by the fire with the BodyGuard.
I'm ready for bright orange pumpkins and the sweet smell of oak burning in the fireplaces outside. More stitching time in the evening as days grow shorter. Hot chocolate with marshmellows and hikes in the woods. Mums and fall leaf colors in every hue dazzle the mountains with a glow.

But I just wonder how much we would all appreciate Fall and its beauty if we didn't know the contrasting seasons. Of course, I like Spring and Summer and Winter, but Fall really stands out to me. May be that early on I associated Fall with a new start with the beginnings of school back in the day when we had a real long summer off. The new pencils, clean, fresh paper packs, new books and one pair of new shoes meant Fall was coming. A new start. A new hope.

I hope, my friend, that you are anticipating Fall coming too and feel the freshness of the new hope it brings.

From Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens;
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted:
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war and a time of peace.

Have a great day!

  1. Great post.

    I too love Autumn but I have to say that Spring is my favorite. Watching the earth wake up and all the new green come back. The rebirth of the flowering plants and the days growing longer.

    You can keep the heat of summer but I think you are right in that we wouldn't love the seasons if we didn't have the contrasts. While living somewhere like Hawaii would be nice I for one would still want the changes of the seasons.

  2. I love the Fall time - the trees are beautiful here - it's apple cider time - the air is crisp and you sleep so well at night. You get more stitching time - there are football games, walks in the crisp air and all sorts of things - pumpkins and the fall vegetables too.

    You don't realize how much you would miss the changing of the seasons until you're gone from the area. My sister misses the changing of the seasons in California. She comes here hoping for thunderstorms in the summer, a good snow storm in the winter and the beautiful colors in the fall.

  3. Aren't we both so lucky that we live in areas of this great country where we get to have seasons! I love fall, with all you mentioned :)

    Thanks for the scripture....a wonderful reminder in these hectic times.

    Hugs
