Pink or Blue?

I can't wait until the Royal baby is born!  I so want a baby Princess!!!  But if it's a Prince, that is fine with me too as long as it's healthy and happy. ;)

Well, Feathers in the Nest has a design pending the gender of the special baby. I want to pull out alot of pink overdyed sampler threads but still have to wait to see. Nevertheless, I picked up an empty flower vase in pink and went into the yard for flowers. The combo looked good with my quilt remnant that will make a cute runner in the guest room.

I can tell you the design will include motifs of a prince or princess infant, gingham border, sampler dates and a verse of my own!

While I can't start model stitching on it yet until I know boy or girl, I can show you the pretty flowers and fabbie on the little table in one of the guest bedrooms.

I thought while cleaning this room today I would add some pop color of nature.

 

My cup is tipped over. :P

 

This is a teeny set to go with my china in the dining room. For little ones who visit, it's a favorite! This was my own table when I was preschool, age 3.

 

 

Pink or blue?

I think we will know in a few weeks.................until then, enjoy both colors waiting on the little one!

Progress in Pink Lace, Progress in God's Grace

It's Thursday already?  Oh my! Just wanted to show you some progress of my knitting, I hope you are not getting tired of knitting pics instead of cross stitch. I still do that but right now I've got the knitting bug and just a new creative way to stitch.

 

This is the progress since my last posting.

I can't wait until it's finished and I can block it. I'm so surprised at how much yarn I still have left with such length. I guess with lace it's less. I don't know but I have 2 more hanks. I sure do like the softness of alpaca/silk blend fiber. However, my wood needles are giving me a bit of trouble. Getting too sticky. They are #9 rosewood. I do not have any 9/ 10inch aluminum ones but it's on the grocery list.

I made a garter section because it was my only answer to correcting a mistake. Lace mistakes are NOT good. I had to do some improvisions with decreasing and increasing and the garter to get back on track to the One Row Lace pattern by Turvid on Ravelry.com.

 

Actually, it doesn't look so bad afterall.

One thing about stitching of any kind, whether it be cross stitch or knitting or sewing.........we can decide who, what and where. If we mess up or come up to a challenge, we can correct it and sometimes the mistake corrected with improvisions is kinda cool in the whole spectrum of things!

 

What about you with stitching? Do you find that part pretty cool?

 

What about wooden needles? Can you use furniture polish on them? Will it hurt the fiber?

 

Just putting out some thoughts and trying to connect to all the creative, talented folks who take the time out of their day to look at my amateur knitting. :o

 

I was asked to design something based on a favorite scripture and was delighted at the idea~!!!

So, my cross stitching designing mode will start pretty soon.

In fact, I'm going there now to read, reread and let the verse soak in, write what it means to me and putting my creative cap on graph paper. I recently found a great website that is GREAT for individual devotionals or bible study in groups or by yourself. Actually it's Ann Graham, Billy Graham's daughter at The Cove. She is a great teacher.  Lookie Here at her 3 question study. She has many other resources. The 30 minute video is well worth the view before studying scripture in the manner she describes in her handouts.

 

I hope life is treating you kind and you are having a good time in your "stitching studio" whether it be your space by the TV or a huge stitching studio you designed.  Whatever the environment,  let's put our thoughts in action and connect.

 

Purl of Wisdom-----  Our stitching space is our personal time of creativity. If you can, let it be a cheerful one, maybe with tea, or fresh flowers; however, it may be, big or small,  appreciate the talent we are given that so many are not blessed to have.

Hopping to another project on Easter Weekend!

I'm dragging today literally, worn out from the busy week. I decided to repurpose/ or purpose some leftover yarn I had from the light pink lacy keyhole scarf. I had a little bit left and it is a a cotton/silk blend and so soft, I simply knew it would be used for something. Somewhere. One day.

Staring me in the face in my my knitting basket was this small, little ball of soft pink left and I decided to freelance a small coin purse. I call it Mama's Pretty Penny-Pinching Petite Purse. I remember the days of when I was a little girl and my mama could make a penny go a mile and would keep a little one with her. She worked in a bank for nearly 20 years and taught me everything I know about money and I'll say it has been useful information my whole life as there are some tight penny pinching times like now.

While most of us now use electronic banking and such, I still think that penny purses are so cute and remind me to pinch my pennies. :)

About a month ago at Joanne's Crafts, I found this really nice little top for a coin purse. They came in all sizes. This one is the smallest. I think it was only 1.99 but it's actually very nice weight and quality.

So on this Saturday, my simple mind went to seeing if I could stretch (no pun intended) the little bit of precious yarn I had left into at least the front of a penny purse.

I gathered my materials, and using no pattern, winging it.

 

 

Going to bind off here and make another side to join.

 

Using # 5 wooden needles of which splintered on the end.....ouch!  These are going bye bye after this project.

Hoping I can figure this out with sewing in the little holes. I have never done this before.

Keeps my mind busy for sure.

 

and crossing my fingers I have enough to do the back. if not, I will wing something else. :O

For those who have followed my blog for a while, you know how close to my heart the book The Velveteen Rabbit is and has been since a little girl. A few years ago, I purchased some books by an author who actually wrote several others using the velveteen principle for women.

Sometimes and often, I have to remind myself of the Velveteen Rabbit story. Especially at Easter time I think of it when I see all the little bunnies.

Of course the rabbit in the story wanted to know how to "become real". I've drawn many lessons from that simple story. It's truly a story of authenicity and from that we can draw that as the Old Skin Horse said patiently "Real isn't how you are made. It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you then you become real". It doesn't happen overnight and we get quite ragged and loose in the joints but these things don't matter because "once you are Real, you can't be ugly except to people who don't understand".

That's a powerful storybook for children and adults. 

What matters what is real, is the contentment of our souls. Let's use our creativity to enjoy the ups and downs of life.
