Our Sunday afternoon in the mountains

Today~~ our day to drive over to Young Harris, Ga. which is about 30 miles from here......30 mountain miles, so it took about an hour. We were going to look at Chichi puppies from a breeder. She also has a Pet Lodge there as well.
We did several other things which included going by our burial plot. This past summer we purchased burial plots (I know that sounds morbid) but it brought us peace and we picked out this spot right in front of 2 oak trees. The mountains are in the background and these white wooden crosses were already there right next to the lot.
Today, being the peak of the leaf season, we drove over to see for the first time how the oak tree will look in the Fall season.
Here are the wood crosses.

This is one of the oaks.

in this picture, it's pretty small but the biggest tree in the center is the tree.

I think of Forest Gump movie when I see this......but honestly, it was a perfect spot right in front of those oak trees. We also are going to put a little bench there beside the tree.

Mountains also on the other side view.

Ok, to a brighter note here, on the way to Abbie's house.
Was quite colorful and stunning.

we stopped for a snack and a Dr. Pepper like I was at the movies LOL

Body Guard was driving and I was looking at the beautiful colors!

Not a cloud in the sky today! Gorgeous!!!!! We are so lucky to live in this area.
And we feel especially lucky to see lots of different toy Chichi pups and this one picked us out.
Abigail Renee, and we will call her Abbie.
When we first got there, she showed us all the different pups she had and we decided on this long-haired white female with brindle markings. If you look closely, you can see the brindle light brown that is on both her ears. She has very thick hair and is the cutest little pup.
We will pick her up in 2 weeks, November 7th. She is weaning still from her mommy.
Full grown she will be 3-4 lbs. She is about 1/2 pound, if that, now.
Body Guard didn't have any qualms about this new puppy. He loved her too.
Then we went to Daniel's Steakhouse for their famous buffet. That's where my LNS, The Dogwood Patch is located now (soon to move to The Stitch Store in Buford).
Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, okra, salad, and they had THE best sweet potato souffle ever today. We had banana pudding for dessert.
So, it's been quite a Sunday!
When we got home, we had huge bird feathers, and alot of them waiting for us. Thomas gave us a gift. Don't you just love cats when they bring you gifts! LOL LOL
Time for some stitching now.........the weekend went by too fast!

Random Thoughts for Today

My mind is full of random thoughts today. I had many things to get done on this bright, sunny first day of October! The drive to work was beautiful. A bite was in the air this morning (although for me it felt good LOL). My coffee tastes better in the Fall on the way to work. The humidity is gone and the drier air is nice.

Besides getting my drivers license renewed........not online like a smart person would do......nope, I let mine expire and kept putting if off to enter that lovely, nice, Ga. Dept of Motor Vehicles to sit with other various and sundry folks getting their license. It was an interesting wait actually, especially if you are an analytical person. The greeter at the front desk was actually very nice and laughed at me and scolded me then for my license expiring. I told him, yes sir, I'm guilty.

Then another lady came in and she had to have worked at Hooters. I really thought that she probably was going to burst out of her top at any given moment but thank goodness they didn't ask her to bend to do a eye exam there or....oh my............LOL You know, kinda like an open biscuit can........but extreme!

You know when you are called and given a number and your number starts flashing so that everyone can see you line up in the part 2/the picture........well, this woman (the Hooters woman) actually sat next to me and asked me to tell them she had to run into the bathroom to freshen up her hair and eyeshadow for the picture. I'm sure my eyes got quite large when she said that. It was only 2 seconds later that they called me for my mugshot so, whew! The experience was then over!

I came home and noticed that the bananas we bought this past week that were all green as grass look like this today. One batch has ripened and one did not. Strange.
Thomas stares at his bowl and really eats now about 5 times daily. I guess he is storing up for the winter........LOL

Our wood is ready and begging to start a fire. I love the fireplace. We are going to build our first one for the season tonight.........cozy, cozy, cozy! Now Body Guard is the fire building expert. I don't know if it was Boy Scout experience or the Reserves or what, but he builds the best fires.
Me, I can if I have a huge chunk of fat lighter......

I'm wondering where I will put our swing. I have to find a good tree. I do have a few choices here......LOL

Another sign of testosterone is building fires outside. My hubbie built us a firepit in the yard, or actually he moved one from one side of the property to another. He does a great job and has it meticulously ready for our fire outside. Fires outside make me nervous but.........this one has all rocks around it so getting ready for S'more time......

Ruby waits patiently at the front. She is the head of the pack or so they say.
Our cozy spot on the Earth.......

But I zoom in and go........what is this? Anybody see what is different in this gathering of Fall items? Yeppers, shoes. BG evidently thinks this makes a good shoe rack...........hmmmmm.....well, at least they match the autumn colors.............LOL

The mums have bloomed.

Our summer ivy needs some trimming.........There's no telling what's under all that.......nope, don't want to think about it..............

Well, now it's time to figure out what's for supper. The daily question that we all ponder after lunch. Think tonight we will just cook some frozen pizzas and cozy up by the fire.
I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday!!!!!!! WOOHOOO!

Sunday Evening Around the House

Ready for a walk, girls? This all we have to say about 6pm. They take position in the front to watch when we are ready.
As I was about to go to another room, to get walking shoes and reentered the kitchen, I heard the snoring and saw this. Ren might as well say "Housekeeping............ housekeeping please"
He's done with supper and has arranged his blanket in this fashion with just his nose and butt showing~~~~with a dinner mess to clean up. But, he's snoringly happy to stay here while we go walking.
I saw this in my yard and thought it was pretty.

This bush has gone crazy and needs trimming. They grow so fast we can't keep up with them. This year there are loads of bulbs on this one, fuschia pink too!!! If they bloom all at once I will have to get a pic next week.

This is our destination. We liked to walk until we see this peaking high above. This is Mount Yonah.

By the way, these folks like the color White. They own 2 white cars, a white house, with a white door. I haven't been inside of it but I bet all the walls are white too....LOL

It's getting late, early now.

Here's the Body Guard on our walk this evening, coaxing me to keep going after we went up the first big hill. He has a walking stick he carved out, which comes in handy to keep the critters, like bear and mean dogs at bay.

Look at this!.. A first for me is to see mushrooms grow through the pavement and push it aside.

This is a random picture------but while we are here.....this is the new black prim frame I ordered for our dancing pic.

Oh and I forgot to show you the backing of the pillowkeep. I love it, a small colonial blue and red paisley.

Where did the weekend go? Poof, went by fast, oh so very fast. I did get some stitching done this morning but not as much as I would have liked to, mostly worked on the borders in the Heart of America and started a new section.

Hope you had a fun weekend!

New finish and a new start

I got to finish the Sweet Things by The Sampler Girl. I used different colors for the Fall season.
I got to use one of the fat quarters from my stash which I loved. I just made a simple tie with some DMC floss and some old brown buttons in my stash.

I am having Keebler double fudge cookies for a bedtime snack as I finish up Sweet Things..........Yum!

My new start today is Heart of America by Little House Needleworks. This is accomplished on 30 ct Creekbed Brown as called for in the pattern and Crescent Colors threads. A spontaneous move today as I really planned to do a few Halloweenie ones but for no reason, just started this one.

I already have the frame for this one so I'm motivated to work on it.

I looked for my frame for the Blue House Sampler in the mail again today.....but no frame yet.

I also printed some freebie Halloween designs from Primitive Betty's blog and hope to get those worked in at some point.

Mums and Mail Goodies

Mums are here! This is one of the lovlies I got yesterday. I like the mums when they haven't bloomed a bit to surprise me with their color!

These are my itty, bitty, ones that I plan to put in a long planter together. My fave color is the deep burgandy red, then the autumny yellow are my next faves.

Lookie what I got in the mail! I made an order with Tanya, The Sampler Girl and when I got this I nearly cried. I will treasure it forever Tanya! It's a photo album and on the front is a picture of one of her samplers. Thanks Tanya for that surprise for a birthday giftie! I LOVE IT! Thank you again. I will probably put a pic of each of my samplers finished and place it on my sofa table. Tanya is the most creative person. I've never met her in person but I can tell by her blog and creative designs she is the sweetest in the world!

Here's my order that came in (the patterns) and the birthday giftie from Tanya!
I'm excited to find that she also offered the piece of linen to stitch the Clara Christmas one on the left on her website. You must check out her site http://atthehoneysuckletree.blogspot.com/
and there you can click on her webshop. She just put a neat freebie out too. Check it out!

Till later,
Jennifer

Feeling Fallish Outside Today

Ok, I'm getting used to this ---go to bed at 1am and get up at 10am---kind of schedule! I love it. Isn't that what vacation is about? My friend, Connie at work gave me this for my birthday and of course she thinks I need to chill this week too. I love it! It's an herbal combination of Eucalyptus and Spearmint. I'll have to watch it though, because BodyGuard loves the smell of this. He has been known to snitch my Eucalyptus bodywash before! HEHEHEHE

I count this too as a gift because I never in the world thought I would have a chance at adopting this from Doris, but she has a gracious heart and so generous. She is cleaning out her stash (something I should be doing) and she picked my name to get this lovely Lavender and Lace Angel of Summer WITH all the beads and threads, and the 32 ct linen. Isn't it pretty? I just got it in the mail. Thank you so much Doris!

My to do list yesterday -----well, most of it was done...... a couple I didn't but did find my Fallish stuff for my kitchen island. These pumpkins came from Hearts and Flowers primitive store in Cleveland Ga last year. I just love them. I only had one fleeting thought of guilt as I looked around the basement for them for not taking the time to clean out more stuff......but it passed quickly. LOL

I slept so good last night with the windows open. Love the 50's and 60's weather when Fall begins. Won't be long until nature will show its grand beauty here in the mountains of North Ga. There's nothing like it in the world.
