Time Off---Priceless

Yep, so we decided on a very hot, humid, North Georgia day to go on a day trip.

For the first time myself, even living up in the moutains for a decade, finally made the trip inside the Gold Museum/ old courthouse in Dahlonega.  Very interesting tour and movie inside.

Didn't leave with any gold, but definitely know a little more about local history of it.

Wondering during the 1800's where those samplers and needlework treasures were in homes in the local area and how life was so much more simple~~~~~~~~ gentlemen were gentlemen, and ladies, were ladies.

Sometimes, I guess we all live in a place so long and forget to take in some fun things right in front of our eyes!

But, again, it's always better when taking adventures with a best friend!

Even the fudge shop was more fun.

  sharing good times.

And at the end of the day...............it's all good.

It's all good, the way it should be when you know you are doing the best you can with what is given. Those that don't understand haven't walked in your shoes. Just keep walkin'

God is still working in my life and showing me alot of life lessons.

He didn't promise us it would all be an easy road. However, trusting Him in His own time, to shape our lives with honest, patient, and loving friends is well worth the struggles we all go through.

~~~Honesty is still respected as the right thing to do.

~~~Every day is a gift. Even with aching joints in the morning when I wake up, I thank God I'm safe and have another day, a gift.

~~The basic fiber we have in ourselves is respect, friendship, love, and our faith.

~~Treasuring the times we have together is important with positive people, for life is way too short to surround ourselves with the negative people who just don't choose to be loving and honest.

~~Unconditional love, respect and honesty are priceless.

~~Remember not to question the One above that blesses us even in small things for it's in His time, not ours, and that prayers are answered when it's all said and done at the end of the day.

Hope your Summer is spent with positive, loving folks.

Makes a world of difference!  ;)

My Everything Progress and the Beauty of May flowers

Good morning, sweet readers!

I'm starting out my day listening to piano solos which have put Miss Abbie completely into a sleep, reading, catching up on mail, and drinking my tea from Teavana. It's a white tea with orange in it. VERY good.

I hope to work on this also today and do a few errands around the homestead.

This sampler is designed by The Sampler Girl and called My Everything.

Mail greetings such as this show there is really love left in the world.

It's natural Belfast and who can get enough of that?????  a staple for my stash!!!

I ordered a small piece on Ebay and as always , the dear heart of a stitcher, giving and kind, sent extra with it. I will probably stitch A Woman's Heart just designed by Feathers in the Nest on this fabbie.

What a great week off!

This has been the best week and starting out with an early good 2012 indeed! Met a great friend this week and it's been awesome to say the least, refreshing.

This song was one of my very favorites since I was in 5th grade singing it by the old piano in my 5th grade class every morning. My teacher imparted her love for music in all of us who were fortunate to have her as our teacher that year. Really good times in life and turning points all remind me of this song. It has followed me all my life and I love this U-tube version of it with Audrey Hepburn.

Slowing down on Sunday

I can't believe it's already been a week!!! My staycation is almost over and not much stitching at all but got alot of other things done around the homestead.

I almost got the first line done......."when in the night I sleepless lie" from Ann Hill, The Examplary designs.

Have been so busy with deep cleaning that I haven't had time to stitch but it's almost Sunday night and then back to regular schedule of events here....LOL

The lighter colors also slow me down a bit even with my glasses on.

And this one has gotten spoiled, even more spoiled this week with me being home every day!

I got a pic with my camera holding the bottom firmly so the hinge is not warped....LOL

I got alot of sleep in this week. And so did somebody else.

I got some organizing done in my stitching studio/bedroom

I walked past this sampler I'm designing and felt a twinge of guilt that I haven't finished it by now.

I've had alot of playtime to relax and be me!

and managed to drop my camera so the hinge is warped.....but, will make do until later.

And reflected alot on blessings of the local kind here. :0

watched the verdict of the Anthony trial  being read in absolute awe with my buddy here.

realized that our world may be a little twisted but I feel safe at home.

and that making our home a comfortable, cozy nest makes me happy

and growing where we are planted is a journey of itself.

However, onward now to finishing up the clutter in my office space. I've filled bags to donate like you wouldn't believe this week. It's a great cleansing of the heart experience.

Last week at the quilt shop in Dahlonega Georgia, I saw these black and cream stork scissors and got 2 pair. Yep, 2 pair. I will probably save one for a giveaway in a few weeks. I think they are cute.

yep, they found a home in one of my stitching boxes.

I have no idea what the brand is as I eagerly took it off and they are sharp little things too.

Tonight we had a great dinner at the Chinese restaurant and got these fortunes.

Interesting indeed for this week coming up!  We both had a good laugh.

And Pepsi, Abbie's cousin that passed away, his piece is almost done and will be made into a pillowkeep.

Jane Austen is going with me to Boston

I've decided 2 of Tanya Anderson's designs will go with me. Yesterday in the mail I finally got the Lambswool linen that I didn't have so I was excited to open it so that I could kit it up because I wanted to take her design with me. The phrase would be so perfect for seeing the big city. It's called A Sweet View. I think this is a quote from a Jane Austen novel.  "It was a sweet view, sweet to the eye and to the mind". It's left me at this point which book is from but anyway.......a bit a of Jane to travel with me.

Don't you love the orange homespun fabric?  I do!  And I was hesitant to get it at one time because usually orange is my least favorite color but I can tell  you I love this fabric. The pattern and the fabric, fat quarter can be obtained from The Sampler Girl"s Webshop.

Then if I'm really zealous and get that finished I'm taking this. I got it way while back and want to get it done for Mother's Day. I think my mother would like this in the mail. She loves antiques and vintage stuff too and I hope to do a good job so she will like it. This is also from The Sampler Girl.

And then lastly, I'm kitting up this one to take if by chance I get both done (may not sleep) and will stitch through the conference:. It's by Little by Little design company. When finished it will reside on my sampler wall upstairs right by Brandon's pic in honor of his recent tour and a reminder of how proud I am of him fighting for our country. The freedoms we enjoy are because of this blessing.

I will kit is as I have all the threads called for in this piece.

So, I have got my stitchy stuff with me to take and I hope to carry one of my tiny pair of scissors as they meet airplane guidelines and get to stitch at the airport too. I haven't bravened myself to tell them I have needle and scissors at security yet!  The only needle that's been approved is my Epi Pen for latex allergy I have to carry and boy is it a big needle so they should let me carry a 26 needle, right?

I had many questions and emails about the frame company for the This Too sampler that I have drawn out to no yonder to finish this past 3 weeks........((((sign)))

Go to Ebay and find The Frame Guys store.  And you can browse through many of frames you want and in the left hand column you can pull up certain sizes. They have many choices of moldings, size, etc. and I can vouche for their good quality frames and how they are packed when you receive them is awesome. Their shipping is very fast.

The shipping for one frame is a bit steep but if you already know any other frames you may need, then go ahead and order them too and I think combined shipping for additional frames is like ? 1.00 or something.

So, a great deal.

This one I framed and at the time bought 2 of them to match because I have the other sister sampler to it by The Scarlett Letter half finished, a WIP. The WIP to match is one over one and boy, is it wonderful for the eyes!  not. But one day, I will finish it and get to frame both together.

Sorry for the glare on them, some I do use the glass they supply and some I don't.

I could show you 2 others by them but that's just a sample of their work.

Well, I slept oh so late this morning than I have in over 3 months now and the furbabies are on their way to the pet sitter.

Just to say good morning to you!

Slept late......again.....but it's great!

It's sunny again and beautiful. I'm enjoying my cup of Joe on the porch on these kinds of days. I watch the Labs come back all wet from a swim in the pond below and they then sun out in the yard.

I love the mountains and right now until the leaves are on the trees especially, we can see most of them.

The mountains are part of my soul. On days when you have to travel to the city, I have to remind myself of this...;)    but on days at home there's no place like it.

It' been so nice not to have to rush to read the news every morning when I wake up or sleep with my laptop and look at the latest casualties on a website. It's like a load has been completely released from my back.

It's a good feeling.

Hope the day in your neck of the woods is a quiet and peaceful one too.

Mighty Mountain

As you drive closer to the distant hills.


The larger they get.


It takes many miles to realize what they really are.


You gaze upon them with amazement.






They are tall and bold as they stand mighty in the distance.


You stop at the base and raising your head towards the sky.


The peak is so high up, you have to climb the steep hills.


You can't stop climbing the steep hills after you started.






You stop and look up, you see the peak at barely first.


You stop and look up again, its getting closer.


You want to see the top so bad that you keep going.


The higher you climb, the more tired you get.

You look up again and you see nothing but blue sky and multi-colored hills in the distance.



It takes you a minute to realize that you're at the top.



You keep looking un the distance and only see the beauty of the land.


You're thousands of feet above the sea.

You made it to the top of the Mighty Mountain.

It's Monday and I woke up to snow in North Georgia

This morning my sleepy head woke up to the sound of our Labs barking alot.....way too much so I'm grouchy this morning but by myself thank goodness. I definitely am not a morning person. Night owl is more of a descriptor.

 I took these next 2 weeks off to do as my friend tells me at work  "you gotta get yoesef togethah girl!"  I always laugh at her. She tells me this when she works with me and I get a little draggy or side-tracked. She also knows me and turns the little radio on and anything else to get me moving so we can get off at a decent hour!  Adrienne if you are reading this, thank you. Your words stick with me even on days off!  LOL

Sleepily I always reach for the coffee pot first thing, with my brain thinking decaf is going to perk me up....ha!

And as I fill the pot and look up out the kitchen window.......it's SNOWING today.

Ok, one day 75 and sunny, next day rainy and cold, then next day is now snowing.  It's not sticking though but it's so pretty to watch, I have to admit.

Then I look down and see this note from Bodyguard. He had to leave early for the big city of Atlanta to a meeting and tiptoes through the house so I won't awaken, because, like I said I'm not a pleasant morning greeter usually!  ;)

I just want you to see this pad of paper.

Isn't that funny? Somebody gave me this paper long while back and it makes me laugh.

So, definitely doing some stitching this morning as I watch the snow flakes and I may do a little online shopping too.

I'm actually looking forward in the mail for some threads I ordered so we'll see what the day brings today. The mailman and I are pretty good friends now as I live in the country and do most of my shopping through the mail.

Haven't done housework in so long, I digress on that. Who has time for housework, right?

Another thing I'm working on which will give me me exercise is walking up and down 14 stairs to the "stitching studio/guest bedroom" to begin to store my linens and organize more threads.

So, enough now to keep me busy and later I will snap a pic of my sampler wall and show you something that came in the mail I added to it.
