Still stitching in hand

This weekend has been full of fun and relaxation and LOTS of sleep! I slept 2 days in a row until 11am. Beginning to think I'm channeling a teenager or my body needs some sleep. The weather was beautiful, cool, low humidity and porch sitting was a major part of the weekend. We also watched some old movies, cooked and had but a few phone calls......a nice weekend.

I picked up my stitching for a bit and stopped here for tonight. Still loving that shade of blue!

~~just starting on some of the lettering.

Also designed another Dutch Proverbs sampler this weekend which was so much fun as it was about travel and home. To me, Dutch proverbs are very interesting and make for some good sampler-making.

Raven, one of our Labs says HEWO! Can you just not feel the hot dog breath? :p

And Miss Abbie, well, she got her routine shots and also had a rectal exam and has taken 2 days to quit pouting from it. Vet said she is fine, grown well, and at almost 2 years old, she is 5.1 lbs. Body Guard took her to the vet Friday and she was quite sore from her shots all day yesterday and got a bit better today.

I think she might be able to donate hair though. She's probably 2 lbs hair now.

She's thankful for low humidity.

She has a love-hate relationship with Flossie Mae. She needs a bath but I wouldn't dare until her hiney heals up from shots because she will let us know real quick that she just had shots in her side.

Well, till later, and onward to bed for Manic Monday tomorrow.

New Frame, A Princess Moment almost finished, and pretty color!

Well, I am almost done with A Princess Moment. I have one more line of WDW navy row to stitch on the bottom and then it's framing time. The first frame came in the wrong size but the seller quickly made another one 8 x 12 for this one. A few peaks here before finishing that last row and before framing.

In hopes to finish and frame by midnight tonight!!!

I was hesitant about the gold frame but I think it complements it JUST like I wanted! So excited, almost like birthing a baby.......LOL

More on this later..........

In the weedy yard around the house this morning, I got a pic of one, spontaneously-sprouting flower that must have came back this year after being in the ground from 2 years ago. I have a place in the yard that BG just puts any plants that were inside and appear to maybe have a chance at life outside and sure enough, last year this lily did not come up and bloom. This year, one bloom. The plant originally was bought on Valentines' Day 2 years ago and almost died as a house plant so he put it out in the yard and it survived.

We had another Lily from Walmart one year that was about dead we put out there and it came back 2 years later in multiple, beautiful blooms. It's about to bloom this year as well, near this yellow one.

What INSPIRATION this morning!!

The white lilies are about to bloom, they have huge bulbs ready.

what a weedy place but I'm so afraid of the little critters that may be slithering under it.........

Speaking of little critters.........she is having a buffet breakfast this morning with love and attention.

And speaking of beauty~~~ NOT! is Raven Louise here who has obviously been down to the pond swimming after geese this morning.

She is still looking pretty puny but we have taken her to the vet. Another visit soon though because I've never seen her so skinny before. But you have to only imagine how it is when BG coaxes her to the back of the truck for a ride to the vet. I'll have to take a video.....and I know I can't by myself so......

onward to the sunshiney day!

Holding sunscreen and benadryl bottle in hand,

Jennifer

Frogs and Wind, sure signs of Spring approaching!

Hey friends. Do you know I look forward to chatting with you every day?  Blogging is such a gift in life and to share all over the world, is awesome.

Anyhoo, I just wanted to show you this flower frog I found/ scissor frog last weekend. It was a really good deal too! I was so drawn to it that I think it was magnetic as I went straight to it and grabbed it up!
I've not seen a green glass one yet. In the South, it seems to be hard to find scissor frogs, especially with matching top. I heart this silver and green,......

It's going to double this week as a real flower frog as I'm going  'a daffodil pickin' in the forest today.
I think Daffodils will look lovely in here! : o

I've got many things to do around the house. I love making our house a home. Just love it. I think that there is always something to do on a house. Somewhere in the day I have to fit in changing sheets and laundry that has piled to no yonder as well.

The wind is blowing pretty hard today and I can see the sunshine beaming over the mountain. There is a dogwood tree directly behind my kitchen window and love watching it every Spring to see when it starts to bud.
The temp has dropped yesterday and today so a fireplace night for sure. That means more stitching and coziness which I will need after a busy day.

Goals today are:

making sure I'm allergy ready before opening the door as my eyes are itching already
getting rid of the dust rolls on the hardwoods floors
finding time for at least 1 yoga session today
picking daffodils in the yard for my flower frog
continue to clean and organize my studio (an ongoing project)
take inventory of the threads I will need (overdyed)
Finishing the Lydia Hinckley 1774 sampler
framing the two samplers
laundry

That's just a few.

Windy, windy through the bare trees today

Raven and Ruby  Thelma and Louise to the left

The wind seems to be drawing them from one to the other. They refused to look at me for a picture.

Labs are always on the look out for adventure.

yep, the wind blew hard again.

and again.

Well, maybe later they will look at me instead of the wildlife sounds in the woods and I can get a good pic.

But for now........

have a blessed day, filled with sunshine and peace.

Starting the Dog Days of Summer in the South

Yep, I do believe it's the beginnings of the dog days of Summer here in the mountains.

The Labs shed their collars somewhere in the past few weeks and we have to get new ones. They have ID microchips, but we need to get more collars back on them.
Ruby and Raven are sisters. Ruby born before Raven and they are about 6 years old now. Unfortunately we were not even celebrating their birthday during the first week of July because of Ren's death but these girls are like Thelma and Louise. They usually have a mission.  And usually that involves the ducks at the pond down below and a long swim in the Summer, then a good belly roll in the red Ga. clay! :o

Well, as I was raised in South Ga, I think the Summers here are pretty mild. But, I have to admit today's humidity was so thick that my camera lens kept fogging up when I went to take a picture.
Reminded me of Waynesboro, Ga. where it's 100 degrees by May 1st every year.
I don't miss that  AT ALL!

But here, we'll have about a good month before the nights will get less humid and cooler again.'
Until then.  HOT!
This is the pic I was taking before I realized how fogged the camera got.
So here it is again after wiping it off.
yep, about the time I'm taking the pic, I get breathed-on by this:
so I hold my leg out to take the rest and hope that her breath is not going through your computer right now or you'll run and shut it off immediately!

Gosh, Raven, what did you eat today??????  Yuck!

Our Prim American flag has faded in the sun.

Thomas is keeping watch over all the over grown weeds. He is hoping for a frog tonight. He better not bring me another baby snake.
In fact, I read that you need more than 1 cat if you live in the woods to help keep snakes away.
So, I've finally convinced Body Guard to go to the humane society and adopt a light gray kitten soon!!!
I can't wait.  I bet Thomas can though. But he is getting pretty lazy in his age and we need another to tend to the outside of the house.

yeah, right. He is going to check out the rest of the porch.

He's our mountain lion.

who watches over delicate things like this rose in the garden.

And I watch over this other lion-of-the-house, spoiled and loving it, girlie. ;)

This quilt is her favorite spot to rest while I'm stitching or blogging.
She's getting ready to watch the news with me now.
It certainly is cooler in the house than outside, actually the thermometer says 86 degrees but the humidity is the highest ever today.
But, I can't complain because after supper, BG and I had a craving for a Dairy Queen Blizzard and we both tried totally new flavors. I got Strawberries and Vanilla Oreos and he got a Pecan Pie Blizzard.
I think I liked the Strawberry best and he did too.
Talk later

A Project a Day keeps the doctor away.........

One of my favorite spots to sit in the Summer evenings. I love to swing.
I made a pillow this morning to add for mine and Thomas's pleasure, as he sits here quite often, or should I say lounges here.

Playing with sewing machine and 2 fatquarters and some ribbon and using some little crosses  I made this:
The first time I've actually tried to machine sew ribbon on something.
Four crosses for the furbabies we have.
I had this top fat quarter since the Spring and just hadn't made it into something yet.
The back is similar. I like the beehives and the arbor in vine.

one sad
two seeking attention
in their own way.

And also this morning, finally found the wooden box filled with goodies I thought I lost somewhere in the house for Karyn. Karyn, it's coming your way!!!!!!! Thanks for your purchase at The Shoppe.

And if your name starts with a P
And you really dig tea;
And you just adopted a dog, Melody
Then this was made for you this morning!

An old linen calender to hang on your frig minus the calender and added with trim.
It has all the kinds of tea and names. Hope you enjoy.....it's heading your way soon.

Black and White

Oh, wait .......what do my sleepy eyes see? Is it bear?
No, just Ruby and Raven resting and wallowing in the dirt but they are looking up the road for one.

The huge black bear our two neighbors saw for (they tell me last night) 6 nights in a row and stands at about 6-7 foot, didn't show up last night when of course there were cameras and men and guns hiding in the bushes.
So, we'll see what tonight brings. Fun for men. Not me, my hiney stays in the house.
Ruby and Raven are the closest thing to a black furry animal I want to be near.
I can't decide if snakes or bears are worse.

Here's a little white thing in the day, She's my sugar.

She's the opposite in the morning. She's initially sweet and rolls over and gets a belly rub then, Whoosh.......she runs to the treat jar after she shows me she can wee on the correct spot, the potty paper. She's figured me out. Smart, vivacious Miss Abby. Her fave blanket gets taken all over the house.
I tell BG that I'm going to spray some Pledge on it and let her slide all over the floors and then they will be clean!  : O
I love her lots.
Ren is sleeping, I'm having some Teavana tea and it's a beautiful bright sunny cool morning here in the mountains.

I love quiet.
I'm feeling better today and hope to get some cleaning done. But it's so pretty outside......and I also think it's time to plant those lavender seeds in my bucket out in the sun near BG's workshop. I think the frost fear has past.

And tonight I hope to get a pic of Abbie in her new pink stroller as we are starting back walking again.
I hope she likes it and doesn't bark the entire way as if she were a big dog.
Right now she is chasing that big furry tail as if it were her only toy.......LOL

As I get older, I live by lists. The senior mind is fading so I have a journal book with me to jot down all my daily want to do's and need to do's. I best get busy.

Till later,
Jennifer

Finished Primitive Winter Cupboard Sampler

Primitive Winter Cupboard Sampler
from the Valentine Booklet 2010
design by The Sampler Girl
32 count natural belfast linen
fibers~~Crescent Colors, Gentle Art

Filled with rice.

The backing fabric is from the quilt shop in Hawaisee, Ga. It's one of the old Confederate patterns. The other 2 pinkeeps are Be Mine freebie from the Sampler Girl blog, and a Valentine freebie from Primitive Betty's blog.

The basket is lovely and the perfect size for cupboard samplers and pinkeeps. It was formerly filled with the best fruit ever from BG's workplace after his surgery. I enjoyed the fruit immensely. Last night, I had the juiciest pear from the basket that I've eaten in a long, long time.
Tonight a juicy, large navel orange.

No snow here, but a gray, cold day.
Raven and Ruby are wandering around and about the limbs that fell after the heavy ice this past week and Ruby actually loves this tree. She will put her back on it like a bear and rub around it. It's her favorite tree of the million around our house!

They kind of look like 2 black bears.

Hope you are staying warm in your neck of the woods!

Cold weather causes these things

Cold weather causes time to find things. Time to find this little tea towel in the stuff I rummaged through at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It was thrown in a 3 buck pile of tea towels. It had to go home with me. I liked the edging, the rose color threads, the place for a monogram at one end. This is the after pic. After ironing, and ironing, and ironing........but I had the time.

This was on the tightly folded linen. The original tag. Anybody ever found one of these before?

To say it was wrinkled when I unfolded it, is to say the least. I would love to know how old it is.

But I ironed them all out and now have it on my table. This is the before pic.

Cold weather causes Abbie to seek and bring her leg warmers to us now. She has tried every trick now to go outside and play in the snow.

And cold weather causes husbands to have big appetites.......

Bodyguard went to town in the old pickup truck, or what we call the SSCheverlet because it's big..........and slid up the road and struggled to get to Wendy's for take-out. If he hit anybody in this big truck, I feel sorry for them! It's a big one.

Before he left he asked me what I wanted which was a potato and a salad only. I had eaten barbeque for late lunch and wasn't hungry. But when he came in with this bag, somebody was doggone hungry!-----Hey, it's all 0% Trans Fats.....so that makes it all fine, right? hehehehehe

I've never seen a Wendy's bag this large......I mean I've seen Ann Taylor, Victoria Secret, Bath and Body Works or any place but dinner for 2 people........I laughed.

But he did work hard today chopping wood and carrying it all up to the porch. Look in the very back of the picture and you will see an audience of 2.
Back and forth
And back again.
I'm glad I don't have to do this chore.

We still have ice on the ground but not like the pictures I've seen all over the country! Lots of snow and ice. I stayed inside and finished load number 15 of laundry. I washed it all and now I have to fold and hang all of it. I think I waited a bit long to do the laundry this time...........It may be tomorrow night before I put it all away! I didn't realize I had so many clothes. Oops.....did I really say I have too many clothes? Mark this date on your calenders. LOL
