Frogs and Wind, sure signs of Spring approaching!

Hey friends. Do you know I look forward to chatting with you every day?  Blogging is such a gift in life and to share all over the world, is awesome. 

 Anyhoo, I just wanted to show you this flower frog I found/ scissor frog last weekend. It was a really good deal too! I was so drawn to it that I think it was magnetic as I went straight to it and grabbed it up!

I've not seen a green glass one yet. In the South, it seems to be hard to find scissor frogs, especially with matching top. I heart this silver and green,......

It's going to double this week as a real flower frog as I'm going  'a daffodil pickin' in the forest today.

I think Daffodils will look lovely in here! : o

I've got many things to do around the house. I love making our house a home. Just love it. I think that there is always something to do on a house. Somewhere in the day I have to fit in changing sheets and laundry that has piled to no yonder as well.

The wind is blowing pretty hard today and I can see the sunshine beaming over the mountain. There is a dogwood tree directly behind my kitchen window and love watching it every Spring to see when it starts to bud.

The temp has dropped yesterday and today so a fireplace night for sure. That means more stitching and coziness which I will need after a busy day.

Goals today are:

making sure I'm allergy ready before opening the door as my eyes are itching already

getting rid of the dust rolls on the hardwoods floors

finding time for at least 1 yoga session today

picking daffodils in the yard for my flower frog

continue to clean and organize my studio (an ongoing project)

take inventory of the threads I will need (overdyed)

The wind seems to be drawing them from one to the other. They refused to look at me for a picture.

Labs are always on the look out for adventure.

Well, maybe later they will look at me instead of the wildlife sounds in the woods and I can get a good pic.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

That's the words I woke up to. Thought Bodyguard was joking as we stayed up till amost midnight last night with no snow yet. But looked out and about 7 =8 inches here now and we have more on the way, more ice and snow......which I never understood because isn't snow.....ice?

By 8:45am I had built a snowman, made a snowangel, and fell once and stretched a muscle I forgot I had but I'm ok. I just laughed.

The house looks twisted but it's me standing a bit off kilter.

I peeked out real early when the sun came out ??? or the light came out rather.

The back porch was covered even though it's screened in. How do you like my new snow cushions?

Ruby is shivering here.

She's probably thinking, "somebody, hep, hep me, I'm not a housedog!"

yep, she is staying right here, waiting on me and has placed her "dingiewingies" all around. Too cold for her to go out after seeing Ruby shiver.

I made a Snowangel right where Ren is resting. God bless him.

Somebody bring me some HOT PANCAKES from IHOP with syrup and bacon.  YUM!

I've already eaten breakfast once but fixing to go get a cuppa and watch out the window a bit.

We are supposed to get more of this today and tonight and the next day that it will be ABOVE freezing is Friday.  Not complaining though

It's white,

 it's pure

it's peaceful

and it's one of the reasons I like living in the mountains.

A Project a Day keeps the doctor away.........

One of my favorite spots to sit in the Summer evenings. I love to swing.

I made a pillow this morning to add for mine and Thomas's pleasure, as he sits here quite often, or should I say lounges here.

Playing with sewing machine and 2 fatquarters and some ribbon and using some little crosses  I made this:

The first time I've actually tried to machine sew ribbon on something.

Four crosses for the furbabies we have.

I had this top fat quarter since the Spring and just hadn't made it into something yet.

The back is similar. I like the beehives and the arbor in vine.

Black and White

Oh, wait .......what do my sleepy eyes see? Is it bear? 

No, just Ruby and Raven resting and wallowing in the dirt but they are looking up the road for one.

The huge black bear our two neighbors saw for (they tell me last night) 6 nights in a row and stands at about 6-7 foot, didn't show up last night when of course there were cameras and men and guns hiding in the bushes.

So, we'll see what tonight brings. Fun for men. Not me, my hiney stays in the house.

Ruby and Raven are the closest thing to a black furry animal I want to be near.

I can't decide if snakes or bears are worse.

Here's a little white thing in the day, She's my sugar.

She's the opposite in the morning. She's initially sweet and rolls over and gets a belly rub then, Whoosh.......she runs to the treat jar after she shows me she can wee on the correct spot, the potty paper. She's figured me out. Smart, vivacious Miss Abby. Her fave blanket gets taken all over the house.

I tell BG that I'm going to spray some Pledge on it and let her slide all over the floors and then they will be clean!  : O

I love her lots.

Ren is sleeping, I'm having some Teavana tea and it's a beautiful bright sunny cool morning here in the mountains.

I love quiet.

I'm feeling better today and hope to get some cleaning done. But it's so pretty outside......and I also think it's time to plant those lavender seeds in my bucket out in the sun near BG's workshop. I think the frost fear has past.

And tonight I hope to get a pic of Abbie in her new pink stroller as we are starting back walking again.

I hope she likes it and doesn't bark the entire way as if she were a big dog.

Right now she is chasing that big furry tail as if it were her only toy.......LOL

As I get older, I live by lists. The senior mind is fading so I have a journal book with me to jot down all my daily want to do's and need to do's. I best get busy.

Filled with rice.

The backing fabric is from the quilt shop in Hawaisee, Ga. It's one of the old Confederate patterns. The other 2 pinkeeps are Be Mine freebie from the Sampler Girl blog, and a Valentine freebie from Primitive Betty's blog.

The basket is lovely and the perfect size for cupboard samplers and pinkeeps. It was formerly filled with the best fruit ever from BG's workplace after his surgery. I enjoyed the fruit immensely. Last night, I had the juiciest pear from the basket that I've eaten in a long, long time.

Tonight a juicy, large navel orange.

No snow here, but a gray, cold day. Raven and Ruby are wandering around and about the limbs that fell after the heavy ice this past week and Ruby actually loves this tree. She will put her back on it like a bear and rub around it. It's her favorite tree of the million around our house!

They kind of look like 2 black bears.

Cold weather causes these things

Cold weather causes time to find things. Time to find this little tea towel in the stuff I rummaged through at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. It was thrown in a 3 buck pile of tea towels. It had to go home with me. I liked the edging, the rose color threads, the place for a monogram at one end. This is the after pic. After ironing, and ironing, and ironing........but I had the time.

This was on the tightly folded linen. The original tag. Anybody ever found one of these before?

To say it was wrinkled when I unfolded it, is to say the least. I would love to know how old it is.

But I ironed them all out and now have it on my table. This is the before pic.


Cold weather causes Abbie to seek and bring her leg warmers to us now. She has tried every trick now to go outside and play in the snow.

And cold weather causes husbands to have big appetites.......

Bodyguard went to town in the old pickup truck, or what we call the SSCheverlet because it's big..........and slid up the road and struggled to get to Wendy's for take-out. If he hit anybody in this big truck, I feel sorry for them! It's a big one.

Before he left he asked me what I wanted which was a potato and a salad only. I had eaten barbeque for late lunch and wasn't hungry. But when he came in with this bag, somebody was doggone hungry!-----Hey, it's all 0% Trans Fats.....so that makes it all fine, right? hehehehehe

I've never seen a Wendy's bag this large......I mean I've seen Ann Taylor, Victoria Secret, Bath and Body Works or any place but dinner for 2 people........I laughed.

But he did work hard today chopping wood and carrying it all up to the porch. Look in the very back of the picture and you will see an audience of 2.

I'm glad I don't have to do this chore.

We still have ice on the ground but not like the pictures I've seen all over the country! Lots of snow and ice. I stayed inside and finished load number 15 of laundry. I washed it all and now I have to fold and hang all of it. I think I waited a bit long to do the laundry this time...........It may be tomorrow night before I put it all away! I didn't realize I had so many clothes. Oops.....did I really say I have too many clothes? Mark this date on your calenders. LOL

Waiting by the mums for mum.........

Raven and Ruby, also known as Thelma and Louise, were waiting a long time today for me to come out of the house. I have been quite the hermit this weekend. Here they are looking into the house to see if any motion is stirring this morning. It's almost as if they can sense the stress as we watched the morning news to see the big battle that occured in Afghanistan through the night. Such a mess. I'm so much trying to not speak of politics here but, I have to say, Obama is scaring me, quite frankly, by being so slow to take advice from a good commander. If we need more people, and after last night's battles he should see, then send them for support. Riding the fence seems to be his pattern but it is not going to work with this war. But that's just my opinion. Ok, I feel better now........

Not much stitching at all today, but plan to work and catch up on the TV news in a few to fight insomnia. I basically researched and read alot today and time flew by in a jiffy. Bodyguard coaxed me away from the computer with chocolate cake from the grocery store about 4ish. He could read my mind that chocolate cures anything! LOL

Last night we had flood warnings out for this afternoon. But no rain today. That was strange but we have had our share of rain lately so that was fine by me!

I researched about frames and came to the conclusion that there is not one way to stitch. I did win the frame on EBay---Yey! With much thought realized that this is going to be great for travel, but most likely I will still do most of my stitching with a floor stand.

And then there are times, I use an old-fashioned hoop. Then at times, I hold my stitching with no frame, no hoop, just me and the fabric/thread.

I feel good about my decision to get this goody because the price was absolutely a good deal. Seems someone was cleaning out their basement and I got a good deal if not for all the time, but for travel. I just haven't yet figured out how on the bumpy interstate highways to not have the needle bob up and down until I find the right place to stitch. The car we have now is so much better with traveling and stitching than our previous one and hopefully on our 13 hour trip in Dec. I should get some stitching done. Now, I will change my mind a hundred times before we leave on what project/projects I will carry with me! ; )

Ok, I can tell I'm rambling......LOL
