A sneak peek at finishing up Bands of Angels lace colorwork shawl. I'm working slowly on the picot bind off. This is a top down, crescent shape shawl with colorwork and lace.

Can't wait to aggressively block to open up the lace but today I have to go out of town. Hoping to finish this bind off soon and block after a nice soak in gentle soapy water by Wednesday.
Colorway is Hosta Blue and Antler by Madeline Tosh Lite

ReplyDeleteNo not every shawl or knitted garment is blocked. However, for any lacework it's pretty much needed as it will increase the size and open he lacework and be more neat. Its really amazing how a shawl blossoms out with wet blocking. I have sometimes not blocked my shawls (because I wanted to use them fast) but with a lace one it's necessary. You can soak in a gentle soap in the sink for about 15 minutes and then take a towel and roll it up to dry, then either over an unused bed or you can get blocking mats, take Tpins and pin it out. It usually dries to the shape you stretch it in 2 days. When I block this one I will do a post on it. Thanks
