All things Bright and Beautiful

This is what surrounds us here in the mountains. Brandon brought me these pictures back a couple of years ago when after he graduated he wanted to walk the Appalachian trail. He did get through a little of it when we got a call to come pick him up because he was craving a McDonald's hamburger and french fries.
This was back in 2007. Boy, did I worry while he was out there alone in the mountains. As you can see some of those trails are so narrow, then some are wider. But this time of year is the prettiest of Spring when the Mountain Laurel and all the color dances across the mountains.

This morning I couldn't help but think of how blessed we are and as the hymnist wrote in All Things Bright and Beautiful.

All Things Bright and Beautiful

All things bright and beautiful
All creatures great and small.
All things wise and wonderful
The Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens
Each little bird the sings
He made their glowing colors
He made their tiny wings.

The purple-headed mountains
The river running by
The sunset and the morning
That brightens up the sky.

The cold wind in the winter
The pleasant summer rain
The ripe fruits in the garden
He made them every one.

He gave us eyes to see them
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty
Who has made all things well.
