You see, I love both. I'm torn between two lovers!
Recently, I read The Stolen Life, by Jaycee L. Duggard. It was intense, sad, emotional but I think everybody should read it, including cops, nurses, advocates, parole officers, and survivors of abuse.
It was a quick read and Jaycee is the bravest woman I've ever met. You can tell the book is from her heart.
I've also been reading Killing Frost by E. Don Harpe.
His can be found on Amazon as well. He is a great writer.
Tonight I started reading
Carson McCullers, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter
inspired by Oprah's website. This one will have to reach my kindle real soon.
and more to come this week. So whatcha been reading lately?
Hi Jennifer! I am reading North by Northanger. It is the third in the Mr. and Mrs. Darcy Mystery series by Carrie Bebris. Wasn't sure I wanted to read fiction based on Jane Austen's characters. My librarian introduced me to these. So far they are great reads.
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I absolutely LOVE that little bird on the pincushion in your photo!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reading! I too feel conflicted between the two...plus working full time in a busy surgery center..but somehow we manage, don't we?
Always enjoy your blog!
Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteI too love to read and stitch. Ahhh so much to do, so little time...grins... I just finished The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen and loved it. I have read her other books and enjoyed them...very light read. I am in the mood for a cozy mystery now, so will probably try some of the newer books by Earlene Fowler that I have not read yet. I also love to reread my favorite books, they are like old, dear friends. Hope you are having a good weekend so far...been thinking of you alot and hoping you are okay.
I just finished Major Pettigrew's Last Stand and really enjoyed it. It is a combination of light romance and social commentary. Sometimes I wish I was one of those people who only needed 4 hours of sleep. Maybe then I could fit in all the stitching and reading and and or maybe not!
ReplyDeleteThis year I have been mainly reading.... blogs!
ReplyDeleteI do most of my reading outloud to my son. I did think of recording myself for audio books but they'd have to edit out all his comments!
We're currently reading Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series (yes, all of them!). This year we have also read The Chronicles of Narnia (yes, all of them too), The Hobbit and the 8 books in the How to Train Your Dragon series (yes, all of them too, twice in two years!).
I'm working upto the challenge of Lord of the Rings. It took my dad an entire year to read it to my brother!
Dearest Jennifer,
ReplyDeleteThe book 'A Stolen Life' we got on the Nook right after it came out. Especialy those parole workers should read it and learn from it. They did not do their job... Sadly how a human being can be deprived of so many years of freedom and respect.
Love to you and enjoy your Sunday!
Mariette
Okay, you really must get your books on tape, or CD, I mean...How else are you going to get everything done in this lifetime. (I should take my own advice). Have a great day, Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see a post from you!! Looks like you have been doing some good reading!
