Raging storms hit Georgia last night and we did survive. BG was out till wee hours working with GEMA as the storms had demolished parts of Alabama and were heading our way. In one county a sheriff's personal home was demolished to the ground while he was at work.
I had gone to bed early as I have had some heart problems lately and woke at 12 midnight (by the grace of God) with my heart racing and it wouldn't slow down. I had a bad dream that woke me. I walked into the living room and saw the TV on with the very scarey weather coming directly over Helen, Ga. BG was gone. I figured because of all this weather he got called out. There were multiple tornado warnings heading our way.
So, sure enough I clung to Miss Abbie who was shaking more than I have ever seen her shake and my pillow near the basement where I could go quickly down yet still keep hearing the news. We did that for 3 hours and I finally went to bed and prayed that if it was my time, it was my time. I fell asleep.
Abbie was under the bed at this point in fright. She wouldn't come out.
Just woke up again this morning quite shook up while BG came in and he is now out again looking for 2 people he knows feared dead just above the house.
I was already off today and I'm going to keep pursuing what I had to do today in town on my list of to do but please pray for our state and Alabama too. I'm still trying to read the news to see the extent of the devastation. I'm still in shock at these storms and the damage they left.
Till later,
Jennifer
Keeping you and Abby and BG in my thoughts...stay safe....

ReplyDeleteexperienced lately, I just want to hold all my dear ones close. Please take care.
Many Many thoughts and prayers going to you and all in these terrible weather. May you all stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThe siren went off down here in Hall Cty/Flowery branch around midnight - no one in my house bothered to wake up, besides me :( Fortunately, it was calm at our house - I assume the siren went off for something going on in/above Gainesville. Scary night, that's for sure....
ReplyDeleteGoogle the Xenia OH tornado - that was 20 miles from the house I grew up in 1974 - my mom & I were watching out the front windows when we lost the top 20' of a huge pine tree during that - lucky to be here today - multiple times over :) We'll all sleep better tonight, I think...
Oooh Jennifer keep safe hun. It's amazing the internet is still working. xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you are ok! My heart aches for all in the path of these storms. I know it was a long, scarey night for you.
ReplyDeleteWe had warnings in my part of Va also. The wind just howled off and on all night. I started awake at each strong gust that came through.
Prayers are being said for all those that were and are in the path of danger from these storms.
Take care and keep us updated.
Jennifer, Glad to hear that you survived the storms because when I saw last night that it was headed into Ellijay, I said a quick prayer for you. I'm in Cumming and thank goodness they just kinda skipped over us. So many others weren't as lucky.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you're ok. I had thought of you overnight when I saw the weather radar. I hope your husband is successful in finding the people he's looking for. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteJennifer,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you and BG are okay. Early this morning I saw the news with coverage of these terrible storms and thought of you right away. The devastation and loss are so great, my heart and prayers go out to all who live in this area, to all who have lost loved ones and homes. They say more storms could come today...stay safe and know my prayers are with you all out there.
I have been watching the news and I am also in shock. I have not been able to get a hold of family yet and I am worried. I hope all is okay there and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeletePlz stay safe my friend, BG and Miss Abbie too!
ReplyDeletePraying for you and thanking God too that you and your family are OK. I see this all on the news........so sad, many lives lost. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful you are alright
ReplyDeleteJennifer but sorry to hear of
your heart problems. I will be
praying about that and for the
people of Alabama and Georgia.
We had terrible storms all night
long here in N.C. but only a few
branches on the ground this morning.
Thank the Lord.
Hope things settle down soon. When we lived in Kansas we went through tornado watches and the aftermath a number of times. Wreaks havoc and sorrow for those who lose so much.
