Ends Mothers Day at midnight.

For a second chance in the random drawing post a second time that you shared it on your blog too.

For a third posting and chance, post something funny about your mother.

A father may turn his back on his child, brothers and sisters may become inveterate enemies, husbands may desert their wives, wives their husbands. But a mother's love endures through all. ~Washington Irving

  6. Now for a funny story about my mother. She had some wild tales she would tell the neighbor kids when we were young. One was how she could skin a rattlesnake. The boys in the neighborhood went nuts over this. One day it stormed quite a bit. After the storm the boys next door were playing at the end of the street, and found a dead rattlesnake in a huge puddle (it had drowned). They brought it to my mom and asked her to skin it for them! It was a big one! Needless to say, skinning rattlesnakes is not one of Mom's talents, and she had to dissapoint the boys in declining this honor. She never told that tall tale again!

  7. What a beautiful prize! Thanks for this great giveaway, please count me in.
I have put it on my blog, sidebar.

Something funny about my Mum? When I was a child I had a puppy. Mom loved him as her son. The funniest thing was when she knitted for him a jacket to wear in snow when we walked with him :) I always smile if I think about it, we laughed a lot while she was knottong the jacket for my dog :)

    Thank you!

  10. Good morning Jennifer, what lovely goodies you found in Boston, (not too many bears there, though) I would love to win the scissors, I've never seen any like those in the UK. Glad you're feeling better today. You had me worried with that last post. But I do understand, because I have the same problem with my daughter, and there's not a thing I can do about it. But I love today's quote. It's true. Our love for them never goes away, and maybe they'll realise that one day. Blessings and loving thoughts.

  12. My Mom cannot ride a bike very well, a few years ago she tried it again, she lost her balance and ended up breaking her wrist. Not funny, she just can't get the balance thing! So easy for most not for her.

  13. Please enter me! Love the scissors and love the Washington Irving quote. I will be posting a link on my site.

My funny story - we were on vacation touring the Corning Glass Factory in Corning NY. My mom walked too close to one of those industrial vacuum hoses suspended from the ceiling and it darn near pulled her hair piece off! I can still see her face! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. I sure miss my mom.

    http://kiskalacs.blogspot.com/2010/04/jennifer-anyaknapi-jateka.html

I can remember now only one funny story about my mum. Once she was watering flowers in the garden, and when she was coming to me, she fell on her bottomon the wet muddy ground, as you can see in comics. Her feet looked to the sky.
It was so funny and scary simultaneously. :)

  24. Funny thing about my mom......it's become a family joke - when my dad does something silly or "stupid" in her eyes, she calls him by his middle name, Henry. So, now when someone - doesn't have to be dad - does something it has it's own term, "So and so pulled a Henry today..."

Oh, then there was the time in the parking lot - back before you had a remote to unlock your doors - where she kept trying to get in the wrong car - she didn't believe me (who believes teenagers) that we parked about 5 rows over!

  35. Something funny about my mom? Well that's a hard one. My mom is the sweetest mom, and she is quite talented. Anything I can do, my mom usually does better! She is amazing.
Can't think of anything "funny" that she does, other than she won't drive anywhere if the weather is anything but sunny. She is paranoid of wreaks.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Those are just beautiful Jen! I'd love to be entered.

  37. We give my Mom a hard time that she can't say grace at big holidays without breaking into tears. In fact last Christmas we started a very quiet betting pool about what word she would start crying on. (we were in trouble when she found out) But it's still really funny and kind of cute. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. What a beautiful pair of scissors! I would love a chance to win so please enter my name into the drawing.

Hmmm, my Mom is a shopaholic. She has multiple storage units with loads of "stuff" in them.

  39. I would love a chance at these pretty scissors, Jennifer! I have been a follower so here's a story about my mom:

She's a treasure, sweet and kind first and foremost. But, being Southern, she did teach me that if you are going to speak ill of someone, like saying they're fat - you should always add "Bless her/his heart!" at the end. That, in her sweet, southern mind makes dissing someone okay. Her favorite is, "Well, my gawd.... that poor girl's about as dumb as a bag of rocks; bless her heart!" Funny wisdom that I now find myself using - bless MY heart!

  46. Please enter me for a chance. The scissors are gorgeous. The funniest story about my mom is she has no idea, even today, at the age of 83, how to sew a button on. My dad does all the hand sewing in the house. I do knitting, quilting and cross stitching. She has no clue how to even thread a needle.

  48. I'm a follower of your blog & would so love to win those scissors. Gingher is my favorite & love that design.

My mom always told us how her dad would never admit he was wrong & when proved so by a dictionary, he said that Webster made a mistake. Then we would tease her that she inherited that same trait from him.

Thanks for the opportunity to win such a generous giveaway.

  50. Funny story about my Mom.

Early in her marriage she and Dad bought a new mattress and had to carry it up 2 flight of stairs in Chicago. The mattress was wiggly and she started laughing... so much so she dropped the mattress. Ever since that day she cannot watch anyone move a mattress. Not so funny but when you are the one moving the mattress and she is standing in the corner with her legs crossed and laughing like a hyena... it is funny.

    Love ya Mom!

  62. My mom has the WORST memory and always has. She will tell you a story or about something you need to do, and literally ten minutes later she will tell you the same thing. She doesn't believe it when you tell her she JUST told you that! It's been like this since I was a little girl.

  67. I enjoyed reading everyone's funny Mom story so now I'll share mine.

I am my mom's only child and my mom's a phone addict. She has always called me a lot and I have returned many missed calls. Whenever I call my mom, I would say "Hi Mom." My mom's standard response, "Is this my daughter?" My response, "so how many other people call you Mom?" And she always says that "it did not sound like me." EVERY single call at least 3 or more times a day for decades.

  75. Funny one about my Mom. The time she piled us all in the car one winter day (6 kids), went to the school parking lot and spun donuts in the snow. We were all squelling--scared to death and exhilerated at the same time. The things you do on a tight budget. How I loved her.

    ReplyDelete
  76. LOVE scissors but haven't moved up to this level yet! Would love to enter the draw, many thanks.

  77. The scissors are really pretty. Count me in! I'm already a follower of your blog.

Something funny about my Mom? My mom is short so she's always altering clothes to fit her. One night when I was a teenager, she was doing some alterations on a pair of jeans while drinking some wine (She's never been a huge drinker). In the morning, she realized she had sewn one pant leg shut! LOL

I'll be posting about your giveaway on my Marvelous Monday update next week. :)

  80. I would love to be entered in the giveaway!! :) I grew up in Alaska and one winter I was taking swim lessons in the indoor gym. My instructor was in the deep end desperately trying to get me to jump in! I was terrified and remember to this day my fear to jump in the pool. My mom got up off the bench, and came over to encourage me to jump in. (She was fully dressed by the way!) At the same time my instructor called for me to jump one more time, my mom pushed me from behind. In full terror, I turned and grabbed the front of her shirt. I did end up going in the deep end, but so did my mom!! :) Good thing she left her parka in the locker room,at least she was warm on the top half!! :)

  85. Something funny about my mom, gosh I could write a book on all the silly things she sadi or did when I was groing up. But one memory that always stands out in my mind is this one, sorrty if its a bit long.

On saturday night at midnight we had a ritual of going to the 7-11 on the corner getting the Sunday paper, she would also buy me a slurpie and we would share hostess cupcake we did this every saturday night for as long as I could remember, well she thought up a game one night and said when we got home who ever got their P.Js on the fastest when we returned would win. I was so sure I was going to win so when we returned home I ran into the bedroom and changed I came into the living only to see my mom had her nightgown on UNDER her clothes, she turned beat red then busted out laughing, I called her a cheater all weekend long LOL She was a riot she passed away 5 years ago and still to this day the little things she said or did always creep into my thoughts.

Thank you for letting me remember her.
    Take Care!

  86. I would love a chance to win those pretty scissors. They're actually a pair that I don't have.

The only thing really funny that stands out in my mind about my mother is the time my sister and I were visiting her and we went to the grocery store. My sister cracked some kind of joke and my mom starting laughing and passing gas at the same time. And they weren't silent passings - they were quite loud (and embarrassing for my sister and I). Turned quite a few heads as a matter of fact. Sis and I beelined it down to the other end of the aisle. We didn't wanted to be associated with the gassy woman! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  87. Thank you so much for the chance! What a wonderful way to remember our Moms! :)

The only thing that I can think of that is funny about my mother is that when you go to her for tea and sympathy, she's more likely to give you cake and single malt whisky. :)

Her reasoning is that it's a lot more restorative for you! :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Thanks for the chance to win those beautiful scissors!

    ReplyDelete
  89. My mom was a usually a very straight-laced person, but get her to play a game of cards and she got so competitive. She would try to change the rules mid-game and drive my dad crazy! She died in May of 2002 and I still miss her!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Love the scissors and I don't have a pair anywhere close to these.
Something funny about my mother - Mama never learned how to sew and I doubt she ever sewed on a button. I think I got my love of fabric and sewing from her Mother. Samplers are my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Oh they are soooooo pretty. I would love a chance to win these. I am already a follower.

  92. Second chance. A funny story about my Mom, my best friend who I miss terribly. :(

My Mom was the mother of nine children and one of the most naive people I ever met. :) One year she got to go to a Tom Jones concert. When she came home she was telling us all about the women who threw their bras and hotel keys at. The funny part was she was so embarrassed. :) My sisters and I wanted to know if she threw hers and she giggled and blushed. :)
Along similar lines, my younger sister was in the Navy and stationed in New Foundland Canada. She called to tell us about this small town called Dildo. Now my sisters and I were laughing and Mom? She kept asking us what was so funny!! So laughed even harder. Can you imagine trying to explain to your mother what the word means. LOL

Oh and yes there is such a town. Check this link.

  93. Oh so pretty... I'd love a chance at your give-away. Thanks!

A funny about Mom... when she had her old type camera she would put off buying new batteries for it if they were getting low. Instead she would take them out of her camera and lick them! Got to be a standing joke over the years. If ever something went wrong with her camera we would shout, "You'd better lick the batteries!" :^) She has since updated to a digital, but we still have a laugh about the old one.

    ReplyDelete
  94. WOW!!! please include me also. I am a scissor NUT!!! I want all that I see, LOL>>>>
Not sure what is funny about my mom except her sewing machine sews backwards only. She was trying to teach me and it was sight to see us both; me trying to learn and her machine sewing backwards only and her trying to tell me to do this and that but in reverse. I finally bought a machine that sews CORRECTLY :-)
I'm blogging also about your giveaway...woohoo..now I have 3 chances to win.......crossing fingers!!!
