Threads for upcoming projects from the Dogwood Patch in Hawaisee and the cutest little 2 inch scissors I got in the mail from The Sampler Girl today. They are so tiny and perfect for traveling. The light blue fabric piece is for the Dancing by the Light of the Moon by Primative Traditions.

I have no idea what I will do with the star fabric yet. These pieces came all rolled up in one little package.

Bodyguard and I went to Hawaissee, Georgia today.....not too far from where we live, so the drive was a curvy, mountain......40 minute drive. When we got there we went straight for Daniel's restaurant which serves buffet with the best fried chicken I've ever eaten in my life! Lots of healthy vegetables and cornbread and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

Then I headed over to the LNS and took my list of threads I needed for upcoming projects. Also got a light blue fabric for the Dancing with the Light of the Moon piece. Thinking ahead is definitely necessary when you live in the country! LOL

The quilt shop, conveniently located next door to the LNS, was just about to close but able to get a few small pieces of fabric for finishing projects. I absolutely get lost in their Old Civil War, Confederate Period reproduction fabrics.

Then, we stopped at an antique store and looked around there for a while......till they closed.......we closed all the shops!

Back through Helen we stopped at the Dutch store which is all imported from Holland. Delft, delft, and more delft.....kinda like a candy store. After drooling over all the delft pieces, we walked back through the rain and to home where I briefly tried to catch the news on TV. I finally just turned the TV off and reading through some blogs now before I stitch a little and go night-night. Sipping on a nice cold glass of wine to relax.........can I pour you a glass?

Moving Right Along......

Well, here it is......last night's stitching progress. Plan to do more this weekend as I will have lots of time. I'm almost finished with the motif on the left, stitching the heart on the gold bar and then over to do the ship on the right.

We are planning a little trip to Hawaissee today to go to the LNS and then eat at a wonderful restaurant there. Weather is very gloomy here today, dark and cloudy with the appearance that rain will come any minute.

Brandon is leaving for Afghanistan ironically on Memorial Day weekend. We wish him the very best, though very stressful times I'm sure are ahead. It's really hard to watch the news and hear about all the families who have lost loved ones in war. Just don't even want to think about it.

Found a frame

I had my eye on a frame which would be suitable for the New Amsterdam 1624 sampler that I am working on. Finally, got this one on ebay and at a very good deal. This comes with glass too but I'm not sure if I will put the glass on or leave it off. I'm excited about finishing this piece and hanging it right by my fireplace.

Today I have a laundry list of things to do but will see how many I can accomplish today on my day off. I'm looking forward to a 3 day weekend. I'm in a cleaning mood......not really cleaning mood......but weeding out things that really need to go. It's funny how we all hang on to our "stuff". Maybe I will put some things on ebay and make a few bucks to trade for stitching stash stuff.

Thomas is enjoying the hummingbird feeder on the porch. He is perched in one of the front porch rockers this morning and lazily dazing upside down at the hummingbird feeder. Just put some food in it, but have had it awhile. We'll see how much entertainment this will be for Thomas. We have a large front porch and at night we sit on the swing and watch Thomas running and swatting through the air at moths. He is quite the comedian. One night last week he caught a mouse in the yard and almost brought it to the front door for us to praise him for his efforts! He just doesn't understand that I don't love his mice like he does!

Ren has lost his hearing and we really realized that this past week. He walks feebly most days but not in pain. His appetite is still very good and he still recognizes me through touch. He recognizes Phil's touch with a growl still! LOL He is funny but such a "one-owner"dog.
I'm planning to take him to the park this weekend to get out and walk around in the grass.
